Still on our series on democracy dividend of democracy we focus on the most important part of a nation's growth.
Comparing education now and education then is now is like comparing modern day music with old school music. The educational level in our schools most importantly our secondary schools and universities has really dropped. This can be attributed to lack of funding, unqualified teachers or lecturers as the case may be,high rate of bribe and malpractice and you can name them. What I try to say,is that these factors has existed for long and yet they are ignored rather the money for this sector is being spent on white elephant projects. How can we produce good leaders if we are not educated enough or do we want to have an illiterate leader like Idi Amin? No!if we want things to change,we have to start now like giving good incentives to schools, encouraging good performance among students amongst others and we see the results.
