Since the 1970's,Nigeria has only been into oil exploration and drilling.While this has helped at increasing our economic revenue,our employment has dropped such that the citizens most especially the youths in the region where the oil is explored have now resorted to violence.
Nigeria is one of the top oil producing nation in the world but we seem to be satisfied with just exploring and exporting rather than refining.Countries like Libya and Angola in Africa and Saudi Arabia,Iraq,Qatar get their revenue by refining oil both for domestic and international use.If the government want high income and high employment,then we should proceed to not only exploring and drilling but refining.I just hope that the government's resolve to start refining oil in Nigeria still stands.
