Enugu Rangers back to the top of the league

Enugu Rangers stormed
back to the top of the
Nigeria Premier League
(NPL) after defeating
Sunshine Stars 3-0 on
Wednesday.
The Flying Antelopes
were dominant in the
game, as Sunshine
Stars missed four of
their key players -
Moses Ocheje, Godfrey
Oboabona, Izu Azuka
and Solomon Kwambe -
all on international
duties.
It was Enugu Rangers
that got in front
through Chinedu
Sunday, who opened
score for the hosts
inside ten minutes at
the Nnamdi Azikiwe
Stadium in Enugu.
Sunday's goal was the
difference between
both teams, as the
first half ended 1-0.
Rangers showed intent
in the restart as they
raced into a two-goal
lead through Ifeanyi
Ede.
Sunshine Stars battled
back but Rangers got
that third goal when
Chikeluba Ofoedu
converted from the
spot to score his 11th
goal of the season with
few minutes to round
off the game.
Rangers are now tied on
61 points with Kano
Pillars but are top due
to their superior goals
difference.
Ede told
SuperSport.com: "It's
good we won by 3-0,
and I also scored. The
win is good for us and it
takes us back to the
top of the league."
Okey Emordi's team will
confront second-placed
Lobi Stars in a potential
title clash on Matchday
37 in Katsina-Ala and
round off the season at
home against Sharks.
